OoT was one of the very first if not THE first 3D game I ever played.
Before it all I knew was the Gameboy Color.
My dad was always quite the gamer and a big Zelda fan so he had OoT for his N64 and played it with me when I was very very young.
Despite playing it since I was like 6, I didn't actually beat it until I was 16.
This game started my everlasting obsession with Zelda.
I played almost every game, red a bunch of the manga, cosplayed link as a child and even watched that horrible show.
I can never decide if Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game.
Hyrule in Ocarina of Time always felt homely to me.
Maybe it's because of the small scope and simplicity of most areas, or maybe it's just because I've been playing this game for so long.
I played OoT A LOT as a child, back when just walking through a fictitious world was exciting.
I especially spent a lot of time just walking around Lake Hylia and Kakariko at sunset.
I still get a lot of nostalgia seeing Kakariko in that warm orange light.
N64 emulation sucks.
Modern PCs have a hard time emulating the N64 because its hardware is made so differently that a modern PC just can't emulate what the N64 does.
(at least that's how i understand it)
I looked through a bunch of emulators because the N64 is one of the most nostalgic consoles to me and has a lot of games I love, but all of them have awkward lag or fucked up textures and sound.
Or they just crash all the time.
I'm still sad that I can't properly emulate Airboarder 64,
F-ZERO X or 1080°but I'm really glad I at least found
Ship of Harkinian when looking into Ocarina of Time and
Majora's Mask emulation.
It runs perfectly, has mod support, a build in randomizer, boss rush, a ton of enhancements and quality of life settings and multiplayer support.
I love it sooo much, it's so impressive.
From what I understand, it works so well because it uses a decompiled rom of the game and basically completely rebuilds the game to make it compatible with modern hardware.
