-about-
Kenma's Page is my personal website made for me to express myself, talk about my intrests and share my drawings and music.
I want this website to be a cozy space in this hateful and exploitative internet.
I like to think that encouraging people to create their own websites can make the internet feel a little more human and fun againg.
With what the internet became over the years, it's important to bring back some personality and individuality, making the internet feel a bit more lively again.
I also just find coding fun and interesting. (i'm trans after all)

Back in 2025, I learned about Neocities through magoonka's video "HTML FOR DUMMIES | NEOCITIES TUTORIAL" after being somewhat aware of it for a while and thought it would be fun to have my own website.
It took me around 6 months of working on the website occasionally in my free time before having it go public on October 21st 2025.
The first version of the website was basically just the result of me learning HTML and CSS and had embarrassingly messy code that was barely holding together. (in a charming way)
It was also a little blurry because I made it on a 720p screen, not realizing that it would look different on a 1080p screen, and when I found out I just zoomed every page to 150%.
After getting my best friend's old 1080p screen, I started recoding the site from scratch and updated it on May 21st 2026.
Growing up I've always been interested in coding because I really wanted to make video games one day.
I never had the motivation to actually learn a coding language tho, so all my experience coding before this website was a bit of Java from a robotics class.
I thought a personal website would finally be a good reason to properly learn a whole coding language for the first time.
It was a little daunting at first, but over those 6 months of learning in my free time, I really fell in love with HTML and CSS (fuck JavaScript).
-design-
Like most Neocities websites, this site is inspired by the 90s/2000s internet and nostalgic old technology and media.
My main inspirations for the visuals were the Nintendo DS's UI and my love for plants.
Some of my oldest memories are playing on my DSi as a child. Its easily one of my favorite consoles ever.
Even though I had a DSi growing up and love it's UI, my website is based on the DS Lite.
There's just something about the old DS UI, it feels stuck between the 90s and the 2000s.
I want my website to feel similar.
Before I settled on what I wanted my website to look like, I looked through Neocities trying to find out what makes a website I like.
I used DOKODEMO as a reference for what I would like my site to look like in the begining.
In the end I pretty much only copied the idea of a sidebar for the UI and the general layout, with the actual website being a slim square with background on either side of it.
As soon as I took inspiration from the Nintendo DS, I just kept getting so many ideas that I didn't need much inspiration from other websites.
I think you can also clearly see the influence of my love for nature in my page, specifically the peacefulness of spring.
I want this website to make me feel as comfortable as seeing the tall, vibrant grass on the side of the walkway sway in the fresh breeze of a spring morning.
This site is a way for me to escape the city I live in since I'm not really made for livnig at the heart of a big city.
Also, I have to shout out Bro Code's 4 hour long video "HTML & CSS Full Course for free".
This video basically taught me all the HTML and CSS the first version of this website was built on.
